View Full Version : Yet another problem
Everyone is probably getting tired of my inability to keep cichlids healthy, but today I noticed that the WC female apisto has an opaque white thing hanging by her right eye. Shes acting fine, but I was wondering what this could be and what should I do about it? I caught her and tried removing it, but i couldnt so I just left her alone. After I released her she sat on the bottom for a while and was not very responsive for about an hour, but now she is doing what she always does.

i think a couple of my ciclids have the same thing, looks like a white bubble but it isnt transparent, is that what your seeing on your fish?
It looks more like a piece of skin hanging off. Its not a bubble.

Physical damage from the male? If so remove the healthy male, NOT the sick female (unless she's going into a Q tank). handling, poking, chasing sick fish will only stress them out and make it worse. Sorry your having so much trouble. Hopefully it will heal on it's own. Just keep up the water quality.
Refresh my memory, what other meds are you using on this tank at the moment?
The female died, so I decided to find out what is wrong with my water and took it to the LFS for testing because I have not had any trouble from other fish. The owner said that my water is fine and there must have been a problem with a fish so he gave me store credit since they didnt have any more. This did not look like damage, it looked more like a cloudy growth hanging form the eye, maybe fungus?
