Forbiden cichlid love!!!!!!!

I followed some advise from the mbrs here at this forum and sold my rainbows sharks and IR sharks to my LFS, and while waiting for the guy to write up my store credit, i was looking around and saw a pretty cool looking fish. It was a jeweled cichlid but he didin't look anything like the other j.c.s in the tank with him. His body is the tan, gray, with three big black spots one behind the gill on about the middle of his body and one right befor the tale fin, but he has the blue/purple jeweled markings all over. Do cichlids cross breed? I wish i had a pic but i don't have a home computer yet, i hope i can get one up soon.

I just did some major research on the web and found an awsome site for just jewels, and they said that the jewels do have spots and the vary extremely in color and that i have do have a reg. jewel and should expect to see a color change in the next few months as long as my water quality is top shape and i keep up on regular 25% water changes.
