Hi again
I have two of these guys, about 2-3 inches long.
Are they slow-growing fish?
(I have had them for 3 months and can't tell if they have grown at all)
Maybe they aren't getting enough to eat?
The tank is nice and clean, and they rarely suck on the glass, they usually roam the gravel and plants.
I toss the occasional cooked pea in for them, but I think the other fish eat them first.
Same with algae wafers.
Sometimes they just sit there motionless for a long time and I get worried that they arent getting enough scungies to munch on.

even though their name says chinese algea eater they dont really eat algea. they actually say that they like sucking the slime coat off of other fish i dont recomend keeping them

They dont eat much algae anymore after about a monh in my tank, but I have not noticed any aggressive behavior. Mine dont grow very fast, I think they grow moderately fast and they eat the daphnia not the algae. I bought them thinking they were otos and today I managed to get 2 real otos. The CAE's are a real pain to catch.

I was mistakenly given one from the PetSmart--only CAE in a tank of SAE. It ate lots of algae from the tank walls, but then turned on one of my fish (6inches) and ate almost all of her fin--she died :( . There are alot of other ways to go for algae control--my mystery snail, Turbo, is a champion!!! And quite entertaining!!!
