Since I am upgrading to a 20 Gallon Long very soon, I was thinking of getting a school of Threadfin Rainbows. However, I have a Betta. He is very peaceful towards all fish I have kept with him thus far (Tetras, Harlequin Rasboras, Otos, Corys) but since Threadfins kinda look like bettas, I was wondering if these two species would be compatible?

I suppose you could try him out with them, but Just be ready to put him elsewhere if it doesn't work out.

Thing is, the betta may be bothered by the threadfins activity. They are very fast and active fish...I have 3 male threadfins in a 20long with a pair of breeding blue rams and a pair of panda cories. The TFs do well with the mix I have in there. They all pretty much ignore each other.

I think they're too fast for your betta to do any real damage to them on first introductions, but can never tell. If anything, the threadfins may not be able to resist your betta's fins, and not the other way around.

also, threadfins have very long flowy fins and bettas can be fin nippers. however, if the threadfin is fast enough, they should be able to stay away from the betta. you could try it, just be prepared to sepparate them if necessary.
