Cherry shrimp are pretty small, not much more than an inch long. I am not sure if they are commonly available (they are not available locally near me), but they are easily available if you want to order them online.

They will breed in freshwater (many shrimp that can live in freshwater cannot breed in it) and are very active.

I have ghost shrimp in my 5 1/2g. They are small and easy to find around here for .26 a piece.
