I have a 90 gallon tank, 801 power head working my under gravel (even fow) and a secondary 801 power head for my cartridge filter. 1 more eheim canister filter 2217. is this enough for 2 oscars and a red devil plus a pleco??another question is when i use my gravel vaccum,I used to see alot of solids coming up my vac is this also taking the solids from beneath my under gravel filter ??????

On the vac..just gravity siphon...if so..it might get some but will also be hit and miss...hard to overcome the powerhead pull and if the debri is in a stagnant enough area for the powehead not to remove it..doubtful the gravity vac is going to. A vac hooked up to a canister for cleaning might get a lot more, especially if the power heads are off during the vac. In any case, sooner or later, depending on your maintenance work, a breakdown may be necessary to clean it out.

Yes sounds good to me you have
over and under and mid level filtration. You want to know if the tank
is adiquit size. I have 2 answers.
First,If the fish were at full maturaty no the tank may not be the right
size and the red devil would most likly pounce the oscers and kill.
Second,If the fish are 2-3-4inches when you bye them you culd
have"exmple"3 red devils 4 oscers 2 green terrer 3 pleco 2 cat fish
and maby somthing elts. butt as the fish get bigger you will need
to sell the ones you dont like as mutch back to the fish store.
Some people dont like to do it this way but remembe fish are a
hobby not pets.red devils are pry faster growing than oscers and
more violent lots more. Vacuming gravil and 20% water changes and
adding cycle and start right are most important yo a helthy aquarium.
I do mine every week.
MY TANK 100gal
1,fresh water baracuda
3,vampire tetra
1,bolvirian snub nose
1,sting ray
1,tire track eel
1,needl nose gar
2,bristil nose pleco
1, cat fish i do not know what the hay it is but its cool.

i would defintly have to disagree with that statement. Yes, fishkeeping is a hobby, but fish are also pets. Personally, I have grown very attached to all my fish, and would be upset if any of them died. Now, I would not cry like I would if my dog died, but fish are still pets, they still have personalities, and they are still a responsibility.

Make sure you have enough room in your tank for the fish you intend on getting BEFORE you buy them. Fish are not disposable, and should not be sold back to the LFS because they did not fit in your tank. That should be thought of before they go into your tank so that that doesn't happen. The only fish that I have had to take back to LFS were the serpae tetras I got because they started nipping at all the rest of my fish and causing fin damage. Other than that, every other fish has stayed, even the clown loach that can get up to 12" long (no I do not really have room for him in the tank that he is in once he gets to his full length, so I am buying another tank for him in the very near future.)

i disagree too, I hear cycle does NOTHING to start a real cycle in your tank. Only BioSpira may work.

Second I don't think that tank sounds nearly big enough.

lol...****. :soda: :help:

Re: RBISHOP- that is a good idea on the canister vaccum never thought of that i will do just that. I ussually shut down all the filters before I'd clean thanks.

Re: kjenber - well I like red devils but if their BULLIES, I would'nt want them to kill my oscars I'll maybe consider grabbing a couple of jack dempseys instead, maybe the most smartest the elephant nose. I will buy them as juviniles I don't like to start with adults.

Thanks guys and the rest of u I did'nt answer I need more answers later on my 10 gallon tank situation gotta go to work now.
