Hi there-
I am moving at the end of next week and need some help. I have a 90 gallon with a 13 inch Oscar in it. I am moving about 20 minutes away, but don't know how I should move him. I was thinking about a large bag (like the ones used in pet stores). Does anyone have any good ways to move a large fish that would be the least stressful on him. Please help!

Usually if you get one of those big temporary coolers that they sell at S.A. and Holidays, the styrofoam ones, you should be ok. Just get the biggest one. The darkness from it will help him calm him down. Good luck getting him out!

I have always found it easiest to use an oversized 5 gal pail ,mine is aprox. 7 gal. and it is dark green,I believe the dark does calm them. The advantage to using one of these is the lid fastens tightly not allowing the larger fish to jump "through" the cover , Mine also has a hole drilled in the lid for an air line , depending on the length of move you may want to use a battery powered air pump with a small airstone. Good Luck , hope this helps.

you may want to even go as far as using a thick garbage bag(or whatever) to line the 5gal bucket so that if the fish decides to run rings it wont scratch up its eyes.

if you have a decent lfs pay them a visit and see if they can lend/sell/give away one of the containers they receive their stock in.
