I understand that Buenos Aries tetra can get pretty big and they can be more aggressive than some others. You guys think they can be suitable in a large cichlid tank with medium sized cichlids like firemouth or convicts or jewels? Some guy at a LFS said they can get to 5" and can get pretty nasty and can and will scrap with small cichilds if they get attacked. I dont think he's right. He's making them sound like Exodons or something.
 
No, he is incorrect. These fish would not stand a chance against most, if not all, medium sized cichlids. They normally only grow up to 3 1/2"...I've never heard of them growing to 5" and they usually are fairly peaceful though they may nip at smaller, more timid fish than themselves.
