Small spots of very tough green algae

I have a few small spots / dots on the glass of my tank of bright green algae.

It's not coming of with the normal scourer pad, is this common? It doesn't seem to be spreading but how do I remove it if it gets worse?

You can scrape it off very easily with either a credit card or razor blade.

You would not believe how much I struggled with this using brushes and pads and magnetic scrubbers until I found out that it has to be removed with a blade.

I had a nasty bloom of that stuff a while back...

I use a 1" Spackle Knife to scrape it off. It's a handy tool for the tank as long as it's ONLY used for the aquarium!

What you have is Green Spot Algae (GSA).

Increase your phosphate level and it should go away.
