Could my 2"-3" bichir have eaten a zebra danio?

In my 55 gallon I currently have a small (2" to 3") bichr, and 6 (well, 5 now) zebra danios (left over from the cycle). Well, I can only find five zebras and the bichir has an unusual...bulge...in his body (I was worried, it almost looks like a tumor). I don't mind if he ate it, but I didn't think he'd be able to fit them in his mouth yet, although I did see him grab a zebra by the zebra and swing it around when it tried to eat his food.

Could the little guy have eaten the zebra?

well if he was like mine then yeah ( also 3 inch), it was sorta funny cause he got an average size neon tetra and carried it around sideways like a dog with a bone, he was sorta showing it off to everyone, i eventually got it away, but it was sorta weird because he never went after a small slower guppy in the same tank

I'm guessing that he ate it. The bulge has already gone down overnight.

Ever since I noticed the bulge, he hasn't been moving as much. Do bichirs slow down when they digesting a large meal (kind of like snakes)?

when I got my senegal 2nd. bichir (3-4 inches) he grabbed a large femal guppy and did the same thing the led_zepelin's did: took her by the middle like a puppy with a large bone. The guppy escaped but she was harm and became a quick snack for the knife.

I once kept feeding a senegal till she didn't want anymore she pretty much sat on the bottom for about 4-5 hours then started looking for more food-Anne
