OH...my LFS guy called me today to tell me they got a fish in on trade-in. OH MY GOODNESS!!!! I had to go and pick it up then.

It's in a bowl being slowly acclimated in this picture. I am thrilled with this guy. His fins aren't in the best of shape but I think with healthy water conditions he should heal up.
So...how much is this fish actually worth? I don't really want to say how much i paid for it :o I guess it doesn't matter. I have wanted one since I set up my 75 gallon just never could find one.

I could be wrong, but I believe the Zebras stay smaller than most, maybe 8''?

He was forced to sit still for the picture because he was in such a small bowl. Thanks Kveeti!
I'm THRILLED with him. I even named him after the LFS manager! :p: They just knew I would love him and were right. I had even asked them if they could get one in.
I've done some research online and $250 and up seems like an average. I guess then that he was a bargain at the $100 i paid for him. I still can't believe I paid that much for a FISH!!!LOL Oh my husband will kill me when he looks at the checkbook!
P.S. I don't know which I'm more excited about...the kitten or the zebra! LOL

This guy is only about 3 inches. I held up a ruler to him while he was in the bowl. :) I think 4-6 inches is about where they get. I hope this guy grows some and his fins repair. I do two waterchanges of at least 30% a week in it but think I will up it to 50% to try to help the healing process.
I always thought pl#co's were not one of the most attractive fish but I've come to the conclusion that they really are beautiful in their own way. Between this one and my peppermint pl#co...I've spent more on them than any other fish I have and probably find them the prettiest.

They get to be a little over 3 inches. Here are some links.

Congratulations!! It's always so wonderful to find that sought-out, hard to find critter. I usually am pretty squeamish about pl*cos (an early X-Files episode did me in) but this very handsome fella has changed me around some!! Best of luck, and don't worry about hubby--life's too short (lol) and love is deep. :dance2:
We adults all have our toys!!! Tell him to just be glad you don't have 2 giant dogs and 2 horses with a 3rd on the way!!!

Well...he isn't really "sick" just his fins aren't in the best of shape. To each his own I guess. I have never seen one locally and have looked everywhere for one. It may have been a poor investment to some, but to me it was a rare chance to have one of these beauties in my tank.
Perhaps it was foolish, but you know the saying..a fool and his money are soon parted.

Yup, if I paid a hundred bucks for a used fish in unknown condition with bad fins, my wife would have me sleeping outside with the dog. If the situation was reversed, I would go bat**** too, so yeah. Look out...
breeding zebra plecos isn't the easiest thing in the world to do. Also, they like the company of thier own kind..makes them feel safer. They only get about 3 inches. I too would LOVE to have a few for my B&W tank...but alas, that isn't likely to happen... :(
