Took my old violin to a luthier today so I could find out what the damage will be to get this ole gentleman fixed up and playable.......
Just felt like blathering on about it.....
Turns out that the repairs will cost just about what I've managed to save up so far to have it done.....I'm not surprised...lol...that was one of the requests I had made when discussing the issue with my maker......He's very gracious ! I was expecting LOTS more !
I also took my bow to her to have a look at. The nut came off the bottom and I've been having to use a pair of plyers to tighten and loosen it. Wanted to get that taken care of too.
Seems, the bow is possibly quite valuable. She advised me to take it to a "bow" specialist who could tell me exactly what it is and make the necessary repairs to it...."properly". There's a few hairline cracks up at the tip that you would never notice in a million years...unless you know what you're looking at.....that need attention, along with the work on the "nut". She strongly recommended that I NOT use the bow until it is repaired...(*SIGH*)....I just had a look at the bow that came with the cheesy violin I've been useing...lol...It's going to be a challenge trying to do anything with THAT thing !! I've been spoiled !!
Anyway....might as well post some pics.....just because I'm bored and it's 11:30 at night.....
