I,ve recently noticed one of my yellow labs trying to move the gravel to get under one of my decorations , Inot sure but I think its a male but there is always a female over near him and I was just wondering if this could as sign that they may be getting ready for some babies. I know they that they give live birth but was I was just wondering Thanx, Dave

No they dont "give live birth", they are egglaying mouthbrooders.

They are also rockdwellers, and will dig under decorations in order to make caves for themselves. Are you providing them with lots of rockwork and caves?

Be very careful when they start digging, if what they are digging under is not on the tank bottom then by removing gravel the fish could cause the decoration to collapse or fall, trapping him under it.

You'll know when they spawn because the female will look like she has something in her mouth. She will stop eating as well.

luvmykribs is right on the rocks. After looking at lots of peoples tank pics, I think the #1 mistake people make with rock dwellers is not enough rock. It sould be stacked AT LEAST half way, and better yet all the way to the top of the tank.
