I found these at a LFS. I bought a trio trying to get a pair. One of them was a jumper and I found him to late  Now that the other one has colored up I have two males. I'm now trying to find a female or two, so I can try to breed them.

I believe they are Betta Coccina. These ones are supposed to be wild caught. I probably shouldn't have bought them, But I just couldn't help myself. I always have an extra "just in case" tank running for just this reason. I'm going back to the LFS I bought them from to see if they have anymore. After I found this information about them I figured now that I have them I should try and get them to breed.

Betta coccina is a small red betta found in Jambi (Sumatra), Johor and Malakka - in Malakka the species is now extinct - (Malaysia) and was first described by Jörg Vierke in 1979. The name Vierke gave the small betta, coccina, means wine-red or claret, a description that perfectly suits the fish if you look at its color. The only difference between the species from Malaysia and B. coccina from Sumatra are little color differences which are common for most type localities.
