I'm not sure how many of us have seaclones. That is probably the reason why your not getting many responses.

I wouldnt worry to much about it. My skimmer isnt getting the "froth" as much as it did before. I also have a buddy the added one to his tank a month ago and the first week it was full of "froth" but lately it remains pretty empty as well.

I had a SeaClone sometime ago... Like most simmers, the production of foam is variable. The older the tank, the more predictable the skimmer is.

Is your skimmer still foamless? A few days of no foam is normal... Also, sea clone skimmers have a very bad habit of needing constant adjustments. Maybe it needs readjustments...

I doubt that switching substrate had any effects in terms of nutrient load, while in fact it should have increase the nutrient load because by disturbing the bottom of the tank you should have re-suspended some of the organic matter that was "locked" in the layers deep down in the tank.

One more thing comes to my mind BTW... Did you perfom any MAJOR water change when you switch substrates??? The chelating agent in the anti-chlor can affect the stability of the bubbles in the skimmer...

As you can see, not an easy question to answer.

I haven't done any water changes yet. I did, however, toggle with it for quite awhile and really cleaned the sponge (bacteria be damned) and that really helped. I added a bag of that Live Sand Bio Arag. stuff (can't remember the name) that was expired. My manager sold it to me for a couple of bucks so I figured the aragonite could only help to buffer so I rinsed it out (it had leaked and was dry) and that produced some bubbles. Perhaps it is working and I'm just paranoid. Thanks alot guys. Appreciate it.
