This thing completely owns!! i just spent the past hr hooking it up to replace my triple aquaclear 50 hob powerfilter in my 50 gallon. Now my living room is TOTALLY SILENT!! yes this canister makes NO SOUND at all running at full output.

As an added bonus i can now use the hydor eth external heater AND control how much and where my surface movement will be by using its installation kit's spraybar. The spraybar comes in 3 modular pieces. I turn the first two spraybar all the way down so they generate no surface movement at all, and i turn the last one slightly up, so it generates a gental movement at the right most part of the tank. I can now place the ehiem autofeeder at the left most part of the tank, and its food wont get sucked into the filter like when i had those hobs.

Anyway sorry for babbling, just stunned by how well the 2026 works. If you are deciding whether or not to spend that little extra money. DO IT! best 160 bucks i ever spent!

ps make sure you get it from big als, because their version comes with both installation kits($40 purchased separately) PLUS all medias (another $40).

it depends on how your water is flowing.

thats one reason I love cansiters. I thought HOB filters could be silent as long as you kept the water level high?

I just set up a new 20 gallon (its gonna be my qt tank for my 235 gallon once set up) and I got a penguin 150 bio wheel and I have a lid and at first the water was to high and it was hitting the lid and making noise. So lowered the water and its completlty silent. Only noise come from my air pump.

I have drooled over an Eheim, but I just didn't have the money. I purchased a Rena Filstar XP2, and I am very happy with it.

*someday* I'm going to own an Eheim, but that's 10 years down the road. It is one of the things I'd like to do before I die.

Things to do before I die:

1. See kids graduate
2. Spend time with family
3. Make my community better
4. Buy an Eheim

what you mean? i dont have anything else in the tank that can cause water flow changes. This is my tank setup:

+ is the spraybar, - is the intake. both are on the backwall of the tank. Will this be ok? no deadspot in the tank? all water gets filtered etc

i would put the spray bar on the left side of your tank. so that the water flows to the right, the intake. most of the fish tend to swim against the current anway so if you have schooling fish they will all face same direction and itll look nice

yeah that was my original setup. spraybar all the way to left, intake all the way to right. Unfortunately that does not work for canister filters, it's making wierd noises because of the curve in the pipe so not enough water is flowing to it. The canister requires both in/out tubes to be completely straight going to/from the tank.

at least that's what i understand.
