I have decided what this betta I have been trying to treat for what I thought was ich, doesnt have ich, so the only other thing I can figure is that it is some sort of fungus which salt is having no effect. Will quick cure work for a fungus? I think that is the only med I actually have at home. I'm not sure though, I think I have something called Ich away also.

I believe the primary ingredient in Quick Cure is Methylene Blue. Several other sites indicate this is a good treatment for fungus, but I've never tried it myself.

Good luck, and let us know if it works.

I think the main ingredient is the macaryn green? Is that what it's called? I also have Ich Away. Will either of these work for a fungus? If so, should I remove the salt from the water and/or what temp should I keep the tank at?

OK, thanks for answering that question, now i just have one more. The bottle says to add 1 drop per 2 gallons. This tank is only a 1 gallon tank. So, will one drop be too much? Will it hurt him?

First, I must yell at you for having Mr Betta in a 1 gallon tank. You can get a 2.5 for $23 and a 5 for $38 at WM.

Second, I have no idea how to divide a drop! Oooh, take a teaspoon, not out of the cutlery drawer, a real teaspoon measure. Fill with water, add 1 drop, they use the 1/2 teaspoon to remove half. Add to the tank. I think.

I know, I know....this is not my betta. I am trying to cure him for my boyfriends little brother and I have advised him that a 2 1/2 gallon would be much better. My own personal betta is in my 55g tank. :thm: He is very happy in there! Thanks for the advice on how to divide a drop lol.. I never woulda thought of that!

Please let us know if it works.

When I put the quick cure in there any suggestions on how often to change out the water? Should I do it everyday? Should I still try to keep the temp elevated? Without a heater, I have managed to keep the tank at 86* just by putting a thick towel over it. I can make the temp go all the way up to 90* by putting a sweater over the towel. Nice huh? LOL I really wish the tank was bigger and had a heater, this would be so much easier!!!!
