Hi everyone! I a currently treating my aquarium for ich. It is a newbie so I don't have much experience with 25 or 50 percent water changes.

I have to do a 50% 24 hours after the treatment. Earlier, I carefully removed each fish and put them in a separate bag (like a lfs bag) I then removed 50% of the water, refilled the tank, let it come back to temp, tested pH, ammonia, etc, the let the bags float in the water to come to temp, and let the fish in.

I was wondering if there is an easier away to go about this? Can I just use a very large 5 gal container, let it come to temp, test it. Then put it in w/o ever taking all of the fish out? (i don't have a quarantine tank I could put the fish in while changing)

Thank you all in advance!

You definitely do not have to remove the fish. If you do not have a python for filling and emptying the tank, go invest in one. It will make your fishkeeping life so much better and you will not have to ever carry or spill a bucket.

I just drain the tanks into the sink using the long python hose, then I pour my water conditioner into the tank, then I refill using the hose. Easy and very little effort involved. Mostly just a matter of standing around waiting.

I have never heard of this hose. is it just a long hose for syphoning? How do you stat the syphon, and how far will it work? you just put water straift from the sink, through the tube, and into the tank with the fish still in there?

Thank you for you help!!

The Python attaches to a standard faucet and creates it's own siphon. It is the way to go with water changes. And do everything else just like YuccaPatrol said to. Drain, condition, fill & wait.
