My Tank:
125 litre
( 28 UK Gallon )
( 33 US Gallon )

Current Stock:
2x Julii Corys
2x Peppered Corys
1x Molly
1x Molly fry
10x Neons

I really want something snazzy in the tank… something with interesting colouring.

I really like:
German Blue Rams
Dwarf Gourami’s
Kribensis

Would these get on with each other? Or with the fish I already have?
What would you suggest? Any other ‘cool’ fish?

I could return some of my current stock to my LFS if necessary.

Rams could possibly do okay in that tank, the dwarf gouramis might as well, but I wouldn't advise mixing both...as those two species might not get on well together.

Also careful with the molly fry; if he/she is small enough to fit in the mouth of a ram or gourami...goodbye molly.

The other molly fry were eaten by mum and my betta who died recently...was 3 years old though - not a bad innings.

Thats why I want to pop a bit of life back into the tank it seems empty without my betta - but I dont want another one just yet.
Thanks for the reply.

For waves of color, some of these smaller, generally peaceful and hardy schooling fish might do well in a small group:

harlequin razzies
serpae tetras
flame tetras
lemon tetras
cherry barbs
white cloud minnows

You might consider two or three female bettas, though they occassionally get aggressive towards each other. They bring beauty, grace and intelligence to the tank.

Again, dwarf gouramis are a gamble but would look wonderful and are hardy.

I want to suggest angels but I hear reports of them eating neons, and certainly your molly fry would be a snack.

Nipped to a LFS at lunch...saw Rams again - they are stunning

Thats what I want - however the staff are very varied in their knowledge even though their stock quality is high I dont usually trust their advice.

For my tank - how many would you suggest....one / a pair / a group?

have you thought of getting rid of the mollies and dropping your ph to make an amazonian based tank although fish from everywhere enjoy a low ph. mollies will do much better in hard water.in a tank that size have you thought of some of the apistos? they are relatively shy depending on the species but some have been known to harass cories. for the surface have you thought of hatchetfish? and a few ottos/snails for the alga team. just my 2¢

If you're gonna go with Rams...
#1. The Cories will need to go. if the rams spawn, the cories will be the victims of Ram Protective aggression.

#2. The Neons should be fine with Rams, and you might want to move the mollies as well unless you want to provide the rams with Snacks!

#3. Other fish that would go well and live in the more upper areas of the tank would be Blackskirt tetras or Hatchet Fish

Also, I have a school of Lemon tetras with my rams and they're happily getting along!

Good Luck if you go with Rams!

My Cory's are the most cowardly Cory's on Earth...ok that may be an exageration but they do run away from each other when they surprise each other from behind a leaf! So I think they will run a mile before getting 'tto close'

If the Rams start getting frisky then I will bag up the Cory's and donate them back to the LFS.

Thanks for the warning though...
I dont wanna watch fishie genocide
