Just wondering if anyone has any experience with fiddler crabs? I've observed mine "smoking" a few times. What is this?

i still think you have a reencarnation of bob marley but on serious note
i looked all over the interweb and found nothing at all, do they appear to be healthy and acting normal?

Yes they seem fine. they walk around sifting the sand for food, and the males show off there claws and fight.
I too looked all over the web for info and found nothing that is why I am here.
If your therory is correct then I have 3 bob marlies and 2 cross dresser bob's. lol.

wait
are they in a terrarium (whatever half water and half sand is)
or submerged tank with platform
are they smoking as in
1. bob Marley
2. water vapor coming off the shell
3. their shells are hot
4. their shells are opaque
5. gas other than water vapor
6. bubbles coming off their shells in the water
if its water vapor, which I'm pretty sure that's what you mean, then id see if your lights are too strong, if that's not it, then maybe you just have really dry air and the warm tank is causing the water to evaporate off of them, to fix this, id just mist the tank in the morning to make sure there is good humidity in there...

Oh, but how do they turn into "smoke"?

it may just be the bits that they don't want to eat....if the particles are very very fine, it would appear to be smoke.

wow, that's a lot of particles then. I guess that kinda could make sense. I'll just right it off as that, unless anyone else says otherwise.
