My question is about what goes well with guppies? I am trying to make sure I don't kill of any of my fish by buying an new fish that will eat the guppies. I don't need to spend a ton of money, as I am just beginning, but I also don't want to create a hostile enviroment for my current fish.
Thanks

Well just about any other fish may eat the guppy babies though. Things that can be kept with guppies include corydoras catfish, other live bearers like platies, various tetras, rams, and there are others. What size tank do you have though? and is your tank cycled? you may want to make sure its cycled before you add more fish.

I am not sure what that even means. I have a 15 gallon freshwater tank with a filter/wheel mechanism that hangs out the top and an air tube down the back. At this time, I have 3 guppies and a placostomus. My concern is just what you stated...I don't want to put too many fish in there. The guppies seem very small compared to the tank, so I'm not worried about them yet. But honestly, I wouldn't know if I should be concerned, since this is my first set of fish. I am just looking for something other than the guppies to put in the tank. They are all male guppies, so there is no concern of pregnancy. Does that mean I need to put in a male other fish (Can they crossbreed?)
Thanks

do you have testing supplies for your water?
onikun is right about checking to make sure your cycle is established before adding more fish. if you add too much bioload to an uncycled tank your fish will get poisoned and most will likely die or suffer health problems because of it.
go to the articles forum here and look up cycling in the "article index". you can't miss it and it's full of information you'll find useful.

I Postd in the wrong place....I am going to hold off on getting another fish. I live in an area with well water, and I'm not sure what my reading should be for healthy fish. Can you give me an idea?
Thanks,

well considering you have fish in the tank, you are looking to have ammonia-0, nitrite-0, nitrate- <30
depending on how long your tank has been set up, your cycle may be any any stage. when I did mine, the first stage (ammonia stage) took 2 weeks, then my ammonia dropped to 0, and my nitries climbed. roughly 2 weeks after than my nitrites dorpped and my nitrates started climbing and the cycle was established.
so once you get some numbers for those 3 things you should be able to figure out what stage you are in. the thing to be careful of is ammonia and nitrite are toxic to fish in any concentration greater than 0.5ppm, so you'll want to do water changes to keep them that low. you'll be testing the water a lot the first few weeks, but once your cycle is established you only have to do it maybe once a week.
go to here http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=64301 and give it a good read and it should tell you what you need to know :)
good luck!

that pleco you have if its a common one is going to get over a foot long. Its too big for your tank. As for male guppies in my experience they'll beat each other up a bit and fray some fins if there are no females around.
