We were going to order new Crispus as ours has outgrown the aquarium. Just found out it's been banned from the store we got it the first time. Here's a website that shows what other plants may also be banned.. :( Banned Plants (http://www.planet-pets.com/aquaplnts.htm)

Joe, I may be wrong(wouldn't that be a shocker) but I think many of the deep southern states have banned many of the plants we use in aquariums for years because they get thrown into the waterways and end up choking off the natural habitate down there. Whereas up in the north were we have hard freezes, most of them can't tolerate the cold and so are not a threat to our lakes and rivers. I remember years ago there was a big stink over a fish called a "walking catfish". You wouldn't believe how tough those suckers were. I had one and I could tell you stories...... In any event they thought that this fish could live through the winter up here and banned it big time. Heavy fines for owning one etc. As it turned out they couldn't make it through the winter and so no longer presented a threat. I think they are still on the "banned" list however.
