i ahve an old 15 gal laying around and was thinking of putting it to some use, i thought of catching some mosquito fish, letting them breed up and then feeding the babys to my angel fish, but i have heard they are real bad fin nippers, so if i put one in there with him would the angel fish get his fins eaten off?

I don't think you'll have a problem with the angels fins getting nipped. Anything live that I put in my angel tank doesn't last long enough to do them any harm.

gambusia can be nasty buggers but I dont' think they'd pick on the angels. I don't think the angels would eat adult gambusia though. why don't you try endler's? they stay smaller, reproduce quicker in my experience and aren't as nippy either. Kyle
