ok i just set up my tank. i started my tank yesterday. well i placed the sand in yesterday and put in the water had it going for 24 hours. i just placed live rock today and the water still seems a bit cloudy, i also have an airstone in there.
could the air stone be a problem.
I would bet is still from the sand especially if you didn't prewash it. Sand can take a while to clear up so that would be my guess. An airstone won't make it cloudy. Anyway hope this helps and good luck!
well i heard airstones are pretty useless in a saltwater tank.. i hope you have a powerhead going to keep the water circulation so it doesnt create any dead spots in the tank. The water is normal being cloudy since you just added sand and live rock. it will clear up.
It's normal. However, you should have your rock in there soon and should already have a skimmer running on the tank. The skimmer is part of the cycling process. And of course a powerhead or two for circulation, make sure one of them is creating goood surface agitation, that way you don't get a film on the surface.
