Hey i was wondering if i could put pond plants, like lillies or water lettuce or something like that in my 55gal goldfish aquarium. The tank is open-toped and i've not lost a single soul of the 15 to suicide....hold up....2 of the fish are 7-8ins long a piece and the others are 1in goldfish fry. So i'm not overloading. I know how to handle goldfish tanks. Ok back to the question....can this be done??? I though it'd be cool. I thought about lillies, peacocks feather, and other pond plants. And would i need some plant fertilizer or will the current residents be enough?? Thanks and any advice or suggestions will be appreciated.:D

Goldfish are notorious plant-eaters, so you might have some problems keeping the plants alive. However, in my mom's whiskey-barrel pond, water hyacinth and I think some sort of lilies survive "Goldie Summer Camp." HTH,

I have never had problems with comets eating pond plants. Koi will definately eat plants. I think the biggest problem would be lack of lighting. I tried putting a small water lily in my aquarium and it started turning yellow (I assume due to lack of light).
