My wife found four long, very thin, red colored worms in her 5 gallon hex tank today. She has 6 Cardinal Tetras and an Albino Cory in the tank.

The tank has been around for about a year. All of the fish have been in there for at least two months.

What could these worms be, and where did they come from?

Thanks.

Could they be Gordius or its kin? Try a www.google.com search "Gordian worm "

They are red in color and about the diameter of the lead in a mechanical pencil and about two to three inches long.

She only feeds them Baby Brine Shrimp (frozen) and an occasional Algae Disc for the Cory.
