I have sort of a delema. I am going away this coming Friday evening and coming back the following Sunday afternoon. I am very stumped on how I am going to feed my Motoro Ray.... He eats ghost shrimp and earthworms, so an automatic feeder is not an option, and there may not be anyone I know in my area that is going to be here this weekend to come and feed him. Would the stingray be okay for "about" 48 hours?? Does anyone have any suggestions??

Thanks,

Wonderboy!

I can't think of a single species (except for fry) that can't make it 48hrs. The LFS I work for has a stingray tank, and I can assure you there are periods where that tank goes without food for several days. Enjoy the trip.

I've never kept ray's since they are illegal here in Oklahoma but most any fish can do without food for that period as long as it is well fed beforehand. If you're feeding ghost shrimp, why not go buy a dozen and throw them in just before you leave and he can eat them at will while you're gone... he should be fine, I've left all my fish for up to 5 days with no problems. kyle

My record is 12 days before a pair of wildcaught dwarfs took to dry food. No sign of emaciation, so I bet they could have gone quite alot longer.

If your ray has been feeding fine, and shows no signs of starvation (pelvic bones showing up, think tail base, a concave forehead) thay will do fine with 2 days without food.

Thanks for all the help! I'm feeling a little less worried, but I sure will miss her! I'll miss getting up each morning and seeing her waiting for me to hand feed her (my favorite thing in the world by the way). Yup, for two whole days  ...
