Aiptasia?

I have never had one in my reef tank, but I keep an eye out just in case. They can wreak havoc for corals if they get out of hand - here is a site (one of many on the internet) that provides a good summary of what they are and what they do - http://www.wetwebmedia.com/marine/inverts/cnidaria/anthozoa/aiptasia/aiptasia.htm - If you have nothing in your tank that they can hurt and you like them, you could have an Aiptasia tank! Hehe....take care!

Yup. Now you have 3. Then you'll have 6, then 18, then 50, then 100, etc. and before you know it you'll have an aiptasia species only tank.

One more question, my apstasia has pretty much been take care of by my 2 peppermints. But I have been reading up on the different types of shrimp and have realized the LFS sold me a hump back. Just how bad are these to a tank? I know some out there say this and that, but are they really reef unfriendly or not?

Agree with Crown Royal they soon become dominant and a tank with lots of aptasia looks an @rse. Peppermints are ok but in my experiance tend to go for the smaller anemones leaving the larger ones, joes juice on 100+ anemones is also going to be a real pain, i'd nuke them now!

No nothing wrong with the shrimp its just my experiance that they tend to only eat aptaisia if they are hungry ie not being fed other stuff and only tend to eat the smaller anemones.
