I knew there must have been something waking me up early.... I got up... looked in my seahorse tank and saw....

BABIES!

I didn't even know my male was pregnant! You can imagine my suprise... I've only had my ponies a few weeks and they are already breeding. So I set up an emergency fry tank and started decapsulating some baby brine shrimp. EEEEK I hope some survive!

These are TINY buggers. I mean, less than 1 cm in length from head to tail.

Some pictures!

After removing them from the parent's tank:

THAT IS SO COOL! Thanks for the great pics...I hope they thrive for you!

Very nice! What a surpise!!!! Congrats and I hope they make it.

I bred Seahorses years ago (and hoping the ones I have now will do so in the future, the females are still very young) and whenever the male I had was preggers he looked like a balloon...I always felt so sorry for him but it is the one animal that males do all the hard work :) so didn't feel quite so sorry for him :). Good luck with the babies, they are SO cute and grow pretty rapidly! Good luck with them!
