View Full Version : Help with ident of my new cichlid (Picture)

i was at our lfs yesterday, they got these in and caled them haplochromis milo, now i cant find them any where, they kida look like a nimbochromis, but differbt fins and color, the picture does not do justise for its brillian blue shimmering head or the blue throu out its body. has any one seen this one beore

Nimbochromis venustus would be my assessment...it looks almost like the one at this link: http://malawicichlids.com/mw08068.htm -- Good Luck!

To clarify, they also have been sold as the "Super VC-10 Hap" and Placidochromis milomo, which is the most commonly used scientific name for them that I can find. Maybe this will help people who have kept this "fish of a thousand names."

I hadn't either, but I found them in my Malawi book (which was lost for a little bit). They seem like they could be a very interesting fish, so keep us updated on how they do in your tank!
