i have had them for about 3 weeks now in freshwater..i know its a brackish fish but they seem to be having a good time coming out of a coral decoration i have in my tank like eels..... i have never seen them eat but they are still alive i have krill and baby brine shrip fish flakes and spirul disks... do they eat at night or what???? please help me

They probably do eat at night.

3 weeks is quite a long time for them to not eat anything.

They usually climb into small cracks in rocks and often hide there during the day; this behavior can be seen with most eel and snake species that also have the same body frame. Dragon Fish are not very friendly when it comes to other fishes; it marks its territory and lets nobody in there.

If you are really cocerned, try feeding it Chopped Fish and Prawns. This is what they are often fed in zoos or large aquariums.

thankx for the qucik reply i feed them wardleys krill and wardley spirulina discs im pretty sure they eat them and i used baby frozen brine shrimp becuase i heard they also can filter feed so i hpe they like those the krill come in a can and they dehydrated so i hope im doing something right

i know its a brackish fish
well, if you know it's a brackish fish - one might ask why the heck don't you get it into a brackish environment ?

No problem.

Sounds like everything is fine :)

You only need to start to worry if they look underfed or start to become ill.

A lot of fish will be more scared during the first few weeks anyway. It just depends on their particular nature weather they are so forward during the day and when people are around the tank.

True, they would probably be happier in a brackish environment. It may be the reason they are scared and not quite so active. Though a fish properly adjusted to a freshwater environment from brackish is normally fine. What were they housed in when you bought it?

a small tank many 10 gallon at pet supermarker now i have a 30 gallon with live plants and rocks and all kinds of stuff awsome filter heater all the works i have 2 cory kats 2 glow fish 1 guppie 5 babie guppys and a glass cat

you are going to have to get rid of some of those guppys asap or you will have a heavily overcrowded tank.

Your dragon goby will eat better in groups, so try and get a bigger tank (if you can) and get a few more. Make the new tank brackish (you will have much much less problems with them if it is) and watch as they become a lot happier.

UPDATE... really... if you keep those guppys in there for too much longer they will get bigger, overcrowd our tank and then breed again!

i like my babie guppies they came as a suprise i just got into the hobbie so im takin it slow id like brackish water but they seem happy the cory cats seem to enjoy them also they clean them off

I don't think Corys will like brackish (aren't they sensitive to salt?), I don't know about the other fish. It probably be better to set up a separate brackish tank for the Dragon Gobys instrad.
