Hi!
I'm a new user to this forum after my favorite one vanished some time ago Sad. I am an experienced fishkeeper but this one has me stumped so I'm open to any suggestions.
I had 6 bettas (2 male, 4 female). The males stay in bowls, the females in an aquarium in another room, and the last female in a bowl (she is a bit aggressive). Over the last two weeks, I've lost one male and all of the females in the aquarium. They all died unexpectedly, suddenly, with no apparent parasite or injury, and all showing their very best colors even well after time of death. I did notice that they all seemed to be arching upward, but aside from that, nothing odd about them.
The other bettas seem okay so far. The water tests out perfect in the aquarium they were in, although I didn't test the bowl water (didn't see a point with such a small volume and a rather large dead fish in it overnight). We haven't used any cleaners near the tank or the bowls that we can think of, and the non-betta fish in the aquarium and other aquariums around the house are doing just fine, including 2 saltwater tanks. I'm just at a loss to explain the sudden rash of deaths. The fish all came from different sources and were all purchased in the last two months. The survivors are bettas which I have had for almost a year now.
Any ideas?
