I have a peice of driftwood in my 10g and it is growing some sort of fuzzy white stuff on it. Is it a fungus or something? Should I be worried about it?

Good. My mystery snails seem to like to eat it as well. Thanks! I'm glad it isnt a fungus!

it's likely to be a mold. wipe it away - but be sure to suck it out using a siphon or ist will cotinue to grow wherever it lands. eventually it'll stop growing.

I've had that stuff grow on every piece of driftwood I've ever had. Eventually it goes away. probably exhausts whatever it's food source is on the surface of the driftwood.

I got this same thing in a piece of dritwood that was translated from a freswater tank to a brackish one. It had been almost 8 months in the previous tank, but I needed some decor for the GSPs, so I just took it and droped it in the brackish tank. After a while, it started to grow this algae/fungus thing.

I removed it last night. Does salinity have anything to do with this?
