5 Gallon Planted Journal

I've decided to make a journal on my progress with my newly acquired 5 gallon planted tank.
My stocking plan is to get 2-3 Dwarf Puffers, and 5 Amano Shrimp (if the Puffers allow it). However, until one of my LFS' have Dwarf Puffers, I'll have to keep a different stock to keep the tank cycled.

5.5 Gallon Tank
Substrate: Sand
Planted: Yes
Lighting: 15W T8 Compact Flourescent Strip
3+ WPG
Filter: None (Plants are good enough for now)

Here's an update of where I am right now...

Day 1-Thursday April 6/06
-Bought Tank
-Bought Submersible Heater
-Bought Driftwood

Day 2-Friday April 7/06
-Added Sand

-Added Plants:
-Hygrophila polysperma
-Cabomba
-Ludwigia repens

-Added 1 Male Betta

Day 4 - Sunday April 9/06
-Seeded tank with gravel from established 55 gallon tank
-Added plants:
-Amazon Sword
-Dwarf Hairgrass
-Lilaeopsis novae-zelandiae

Day 5 - Monday April 10/06
-Added 6 Harlequin Rasboras
-Nitrite: 0
-Ammonia: More than 1.25

Day 6 - Tuesday April 11/06
-Nitrite: 0
-Ammonia: More than 0.25

Day 7 - Today - Wednesday April 12/06
-Nitrite: 0
Ammonia: Less than 0.25

Looks nice. That CO2 diffuser looks awfully bulky in there though. How about a Hagen ladder? That would have a slimmer profile. Also, an Amazon sword will get WAY too big for a 5 gal. They outgrew my 55 gal pretty quickly, so I would suggest just replacing it now. Will you be fertilizing it?

Yeah the CO2 diffuser is definately temperary. Unless I get some nice background stem plants and try to cover it up. Also the Amazon Sword will go into my 55 Gallon when it outgrows. Thanks for the concern. No ferts as of yet. No money to spend on that. This thread will also give people an idea of what a 'poor' man can do with a planted tank. I dunno if its gonna be a good end result, but we'll find out.
