I am a complete newbie to this.

I have a Lace Java Fern (Wendelov) and one of its leaves is black up to the point where the little fan part spreads out at the top. The little fan part looks extremely healthy.

My question: If I cut the black leaf off of the plant and remove the little fan, will the little fan become a plant on its own? If so, what do I do with it after I remove it from the leaf?

Thank you!

if it's just the leaf, then I don't think so. Java fern will reproduce by budding tiny plants off the tip of the leaves. the frilly part is leaf, but is there a tiny plant starting to bud off?

I don't see any "tiny plant starting to bud off." I hate to cut off the leaf with such a healthy looking fan, but below that the whole thing is black. I was told to wait and it might green up, but it's been two weeks and the black has increased.
