Here is a picture of my 125 gallon tank. I would like some suggestions what you would change or add. Please don't hold back, I see pictures of tanks and love them and can never get mine to look right.

One thing I do know is it needs a background. I guess I will go with black or maybe dark blue. Any suggestions are great.

I think more plants and taller plants would help fill out the tank and make it a bit more interesting.

I agree with more plants and maybe some more driftwood. Of course a background would help just like you said. Otherwise it is a beautiful tank!

Thanks for the suggestions.

I would like some real looking fake plants. any suggestions on what kind.

When adding more driftwood, do you think a nice big piece or more smaller ones? Or both? Any suggestions on where to get it (ordering onling)?

Are there any live plants that would work? I thought about upgrading the lighting and adding live plants, but I don't want to change the gravel out or do CO2. Right now the lights are just the standard lights that came with it. (I don't even know how many wpg)

A black background is the only way to go, trust me, it makes everything else jump out. More plants for sure. If you can't landscape the whole tank on your budget, then jus landscape a part of it. make a focul point 1/3 in from either side (that piece of driftwood surrounded by plants will work). In photography is's called a power point. If this one section is well planted and landscaped the rest of the tank will be kind of a counter point, that leads your eye to the "power point".

Eventually try and get enough stuff in there to really fill it up. Try to pick a handfull of plants and use only those species. Arrange them in species groups as they would grow in nature. Tall in the back, short in the front. that is a beautifully long tank. Lots of potential.

i'm not sure if this would work or not, but how about a a long mirror for the background? It will reflect everything and make it lok as though your tank is bigger with more plants. Just a thought!

Id definately go with live plants and a large peice of driftwood in the middle. Maybe even build up some rocks to form some caves and holes. Im a complete plant newbie so maybe some other people could recommend some hardy plants.

Ive got an ordinary gravel substrate with just 1.2 WPG and my plants are doing good. Especially my cabomba carolinia, its growing at about 6 inches a fortnight. I use a CO2 kit which cost me just 15 pounds, liquid fertilizer and root fertilizer sticks. Its all been pretty simple and really adds a lot of life to the aquarium. Trying to work out how to upgrade my WPG just now, but no-ones been able to answer my questions.....

it will also stress the fish out excessively.

new2tanks: it will also stress the fish out excessively.

the mirror will stress them out? I don't think I would like a mirror--just going to get solid black background.

Any suggestion on where to get the driftwood?

Has anyone ordered from: www.aquariumdriftwood.com
