If I do 50 % water changes, of course with Big Al's slimecoat and dechlronide condioner with the exact water temperature every week?
they seam to be a bit frightened or stressed for a couple of days after I clean partialy, and now they challenge my small power head water currents very active all amonia/nitrite and nitrate levels are zero.

16 gallon = 10 inch witdth/ 20 inches length and 18 inch tall.

5 swords and 1 red taled shark (bottom feeder)

2 filter system 1 UGF with a power head plus Aquaclear 30 or and old 200 gph.

and 1 more ????? I bought a new fish flake food that has all vitamins in it a tad pricey 2.5 oz for $15 canadian. Wardley Total Spectramax with power bursts- super premium tropical flake food. vitamin A,D3,E ,B12,C it also has fish oil, shrimp meal, corn gluten meal, vege juices, protein concentrate I won't go on, theres about 15 more ingretient listings on the food container.

they sure go nuts over the stuff. Kinda like me when I'm at my mothers kitchen table Home made pasta with grated cheese and canaloni's MMMMMMM

Any advice please????? Thank you! Mike.

Unless you have live plants, you shouldn't have zero nitrates. I am not quite sure what your asking, but I think your asking if what you are doing is safe for your sword tails? If so, then yes it should be fine.
