howdy folks
what kind of prices do you have in your areas for a 20lb co2 tank? I can't find one localy for less than $120. and buying them online isn't that much better, cause shipping is outrageous
does anyone have any ideas where I might find one cheaper?

Check your local beverage Supply/Keg Beer people...
If nothing else, check with www.beveragefactory.com
They have a 20# Aluminum tank-NEW for $97.00
Really good prices! Not sure about shipping costs as i can pick them up locally!

I got my 20# tank at Aquariumplants.com. Tank cost $110. UPS Ground Shipping cost $18. I think this price is very reasonable.

Be sure you have a local place that will fill the CO2 tank for you. Alot of Welding Gas Shops will only exchange an empty tank for a full tank, they won't fill them.
I just purchased a refurbished 20# tank that is cetrified for 5 years for $81CAD including tax.
The filling issue was a bit of a problem. The welding shop I went to wanted to trade my shiney new 5 year certified tank for a beatter that looked like it was in the Crimean War. All for juts $55CAD. One of the folks in the shop suggested that I go to the Coca Cola distributor and get them to fill the tank. No problem - $25CAD. The Coke folks use the CO2 to drive their post and premix pop dispensers.
Cheers;
I have 5 twenty pound tanks and 1 five pounder and have never paid a cent for any of them. My line of work puts me in touch with clubs and catering halls and when I've seen used ones available I've asked and many times they have given them to me.
But you don't have to be in and out of bars all day to find them. One of mine came from a welding shop. I just ask around and have found many that way.
I would never buy a new one because there are two shops I use to get refills and they trade off tanks. You bring in your empty and they give you a full on in exchange. And those re-fills are never new.
My advice: Look around before buying.
