Post the highest price you see at your pumps.

Reg. low test and High test... In between octanes aren't needed.

No fibbing please.

Can we keep it the price as per "gallon"? I know, the U.S. is too old fashioned to convert to metric.

On major rule - no politics.

Loud "woohoos" and "yehaawws", and such is fine! :thm:

Here in Costa Rica gas prices are regulated by law, so you'll find the same price in every gas station across the country:

Right now, regular (85 octanes) is sold at an equivalent $3.39 per gallon. Super (95 octanes) are around $3.98 per gallon.

How about the cost of fillups? I guess I'm lucky to only pay $2.79 a gallon, but I have a 15-seat van to haul around all my kids plus friends. Last week we burned $71.20 worth of gas, which is about 3/4 of a tank. And that was just around town.

Just moved back into town in February. We were living 11 miles outside of town and spending over $500/mo in gas! With a teen about to drive her own car, a tween who wants to work strawberry harvest, and a 10yo who just wants to ride his bike without worrying about outrunning ferral dogs, coyote, and oh yeah the big cougar - we moved back. While last years hurricanes are a part of the problem, there are other factors making gas prices higher. I can't wait til this years hurricane season.
From:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060421/ap_on_bi_ge/oil_prices;_ylt=AjUqNNixWLKPePCaazZlupus0NUE;_ylu= X3oDMTA3bGI2aDNqBHNlYwM3NDk-

NEW YORK - Crude-oil prices broke through $75 a barrel to hit a new record Friday, fueled by concerns about Iran's nuclear ambitions and tight U.S. gasoline supplies.

Prices at the pump also kept rising, with the average price of a gallon of unleaded regular gasoline at $2.855, up 3 cents from a day earlier and more than 60 cents higher than a year ago, according to AAA's daily fuel gauge report.

Crude prices, which are more than 40 percent higher than a year ago, have risen 8.4 percent from Thursday's closing price — the biggest weeklong jump since the week ended June 17, 2005, when crude futures rose 9 percent.

Analysts say oil prices are likely to climb even higher in the weeks ahead as worries grow about how international pressure on Iran, OPEC's No. 2 oil producer, will affect its crude output. Rebel disruptions of oil production in Nigeria, the fifth-biggest source of U.S. oil imports, also pose a risk to supply.

mine $4.16 CAD = U.S. $3.65

DeputyChiefJR

Hawaii has a law that makes them base their gas prices on the average between the highest and lowest in the continental US or something like that...By all logic though they should have just gone with market prices since they get their gas from Indonesia and wouldn't be affected by most crises in the Middle East.

If you break it down, the oil companies aren't making all that much per gallon of gas. They're making something like $0.08/gal after refining, etc. The Fed. Government, makes about $0.59/gallon. Repeal that gas tax and we'd all be driving with cheap gas.

$3.15ish for regular and diesel around here.

So true! The margins for the oil companies per unit gallon sold are very, very tight. They make about 100 times less per pound of product than Dell does in selling computers (another tight-margined industry).

Also, if one lives on either of the coasts of America, the state gas taxes are rather considerable. I last paid $2.69 for regular, here in OK. The specific energy of the fuel makes a small difference in the "apparent" price...using gas from CITGO, I get about 50 more miles per fill-up (about 16 U.S. gallons) than from other brands, so their gas, which is reasonably priced to begin with, is actually less expensive. Getting 370 miles in purely city driving from a less-than-aerodynamic and somewhat heavy minivan on that amount of "go-juice" is kind of surprising.

Well, we used to do that when I lived in Cali...first, you'll kill your catalytic converter. Second, it's a bit more expensive ($3.80/gal as of 9 May in No Cal, which actually is not a bad price for this). :(

If gas were priced for what its worth (i.e., all the money we spend to secure energy markets, fighting wars for it, foreign assistance, blah blah), it'd probably run in the double digits in dollars per gallon.

Fair or not, it sure is going to change the way we engineer cars and public transpo!

Most people find it hard to feel sorry for the guy who buys a Dodge Ram 1500 truck for commuting near Chicago only to hear him complain on CNN about gas prices, and how he has to borrow his girlfriend's Toyota. Oh, the horror...he was a "manly man" in his truck, but now he has to hang his head in shame to drive a well-engineered, fuel-efficient, reliable car.

Hey, they're giving out $0.15/gal coupons in my local area. That puts regular, at today's price, at $2.59/gal.

North Carolina has some of the highest gas tax in the country. Not sure exactly what it is right now, but I believe in the thirty to forty cent range. However, at the moment I've seen Reg 85 at 2.91, and gas stations just up each additional gas ten cents. Driving to FLA Friday to visit Mom--I'll rack up the dollars as I own a "farm" truck (with horses, getting up hay, hauling all kinds of stuff, it's a must so I don't whine about driving to work, and being a woman certainly don't have to be a "manly man" -- or woman LOL.
