OK With in the last couple weeks I have looked for some different fish at all 5 of my local petstores. I have had a hard time finding Boesemani rainbows, and also shrip (ghost ect.) I have had no luck. But the struggle I am having is that the total for the fish I need online comes to about $20, but shipping at the stores I have tried is $25 to $29. Does anyone know of one with cheaper shipping rates?

I also if I have to pay the shipping, I might as well get them from a good source. Any Recommendations?

Any Help would be greatly appreciated.

Have a great Day!

I don't know if they have the fish you will need but you might want to try aquabid.com. Also, often times if you go to the lfs and let them know that you are looking for a particular fish they will order it for you. I would suggest going to a mom n' pop store for this rather then a chain store

As far as shipping goes, I know that is one reason I have never bought fish online, I can't afford it!!!!

If you want to take a weekend drive, you could try That Pet Place in Lancaster, PA. They have more tanks than I have seen anywhere. Look them up on the internet and maybe you could call to see if they have the fish you want before you go.

Thanks! That was one of the sites I was looking at on the Net that ships. It about an hour and 45 mins from me. Thats not bad to get Cool fish that local stores do not have.

These online fish retailers just taunt me!! Gorgeous fish, beautiful pics... I plot and plan and google my way to figuring out EXACTLY what's going to be in the next tank... and...

typically, I go to the lfs with my list... and they don't have the fish i want, or they do but they don't look all that great... so I change my mind. I end up redesigning the tank right then and there, changing and choosing from what's available.

It always works out nicely (my latest adventure being a screaming deal on checkered barbs, when what I wanted were tiger), but still. One day i'm going to break down and put my Visa where my mouth is.

I agree its hard to spend $25+ on shipping. Doubles the price of the fish.

ThatPetPlace is so close I can make a list and go there. It will probably cost that much in Gas with today's prices. But having a pet store person get frustrated with me for picking out fish and making them chase them around will more then make up for it.

My record for a really clueless person chasing A SINGLE Electric Yellow Lab was 20 mins. Debbie - at PetSmart in Christiana you truly hold the record.

:OT: Go Blue Hens!

I stopped at That Fish Place when I happened to be down that way and wasn't personally all that ecstatic about their livestock. A lot of bare tanks. Not that many different fish. I've seen better selection in shops a quarter the size of the fishroom.

If you're looking for Hardware its got an incredible selection and great prices, but I wouldn't especially make the trip looking for fish (or plants) unless you know they have exactly what you want.

I've heard many good things about the Aquarium Center in Randallstown MD (a little north and west of Baltimore), to the point of trying to engineer detours that way (haven't made it yet).

Shipping may seem like a lot, But If you get cheaper (slower) shipping and the fish die you are SOL. Most online sellers only guarantee their fish if you get overnight shipping. If your LFS can't/wont order the fish your looking for maybe you could find some local people and do a large order and split shipping.
