I've got two male hifin lyretail swords showing signs of fin rot. I started treatment yesterday with Furan-2 plus some salt. I hear that relapse is common with fin rot. How long should I treat them? How will I know the bacteria is gone?

I would follow the directions for Furan-2
Day 1:
* Remove carbon before using Furan-2.
* Use one capsule for every 10 gallons of aquarium water,
Day 2 (24 hours after 1st dose):
* repeat dose (second time)
Day 3 (24 hours after 2nd dose):
* perform 25% water change
Day 4:
* repeat dose again (third time)
Day 5:
* repeat dose again (fourth time)
Day 6:
* perform 25% water change
* then, insert new carbon filter media
