a co -worker was asking about this..I really didn't have a good answer..I know barbs can be fin nippers but the bolivian might not ake a good target..

Tiger barbs are not the pirahnas they are made out to be. When in schools of six or more they mostly nip at each other. I wouldn't put them in with guppies, long finned mollies/platties, or a male betta but I have had them with full grown angels with no problems. A bolivian ram would definitely work with tiger barbs in a properly stocked tank.
