Help... I Think My Snail Is Dead!!

Hey everyone.. I have a 10 gallon tank with 1 small blue apple snail, and 1 small ivory apple snail.. my snails dont really move at all but they do a little bit.. could it be because they dont like sand?? i have sand in my 10 gallon... i have 3 red eye tetras, 4 zebra danios, and 1 male betta... they all are doing fine except for the snails.. well anyway i think my ivory apple snail is dead.. he is out of the shell... and when i reached in to grab it to see if it would go back in the shell to make sure it was ok, it didnt go back in.. is it dead??? someone please help!!
 
If it completely came out of its shell its probrably dead or will die. Do not pull at them when they are on the glass or you might pull them out of their shell. If they come out their internal organs collapse because their shell is what maintains the shape of their body. maybe they hardly move because you dont feed them. try some algae waffers or vegetables.
 
it was laying on the sand when i grabbed it... laying on its back....
 
Sorry to say it, but im pretty sure your snail is dead. I have alot of snails, including a blue mystery snail. They move around a decent amount most of the time. If your snail was out of its shell however, i doubt it is alive or going to live. Sorry for the loss.
 
:( Thanks for helping me people... i guess i will just keep it in there for a day just to make sure that it is dead.. snails are very confusing... im not sure how many times i have thought they were dead then just a few hours later they are moving around again.. well i hope he is not dead!! :( i really like my snails
 
I really enjoy snails too, I have a brown one that has grown like 3 inches in a matter of 2 months and moves around the tank very quickly, (sometime even doing laps in a matter of a minute or two). I would keep trying with snails, their alot of fun if u get the right ones.
 
Take the snail out of the tank and give it a sniff, believe me, you will know if it is dead!! Nothing smells quite as awful as a dead snail!! Good luck!!
