I was thinking about adding a few snails to my freshwater 50G tank, but I don't want the tank to be taken over by their offsping. Any thoughts on a particular type of snail that might be worth looking into?

you could get maybe 1 or 2 apple snails.. maybe a couple of mystery snails instead..
MTS..Malaysian Trumpet Snails.

Apple snails and mystery snails are great, i have a couple in each of my tanks, shouldnt have a problem with them over running the tanks.

Thanks for the advice. I will check my LFS to see if they have either snail you mentioned.
A few months ago I accidentally introduced some snails from a plant I bought and in a few sort weeks I easily had snails all over the tank. It took me about a week to two weeks to rid the tank of them. I wonder what type of snail it was.

Yeah my girlfriend caught a huge snail from a local lake and i kept in in a 2.5g by itself and within 2 days it popped out 2 babies. Im gonna keep in there to see if it continues at this rate or if we just caught it at the right time.
