I purchased a yellow tang on Saturday and it does not seem to be accepting prepared foods. In the last 3 days, I've fed the tank flakes, seaweed on a clip, and frozen cyclopeeze. The tang has ignored all of them with the exception of taking a few bites of the cyclopeeze. It seems otherwise healthy, as it is actively swimming aroung and grazing on the liverock. Problem is, my tank does not have a whole lot of algae for it to graze on. I am getting a little concerned as it has not eaten anything substantial in the past 3 days. Any suggestions?

Do you have a lettuce clip? Try some Romaine Lettuce, blanched in some hot water for a few minutes. The Yellow Tangs I've had really go for that. I would try that ASAP and keep it up. It's really nice to watch them go for it too. But, remember to take out any uneaten and don't let it get loose in the tank.

My yellow tang is a food hog. Try frozen mysis especially the piscine energetics brand it has higher protein than others and I managed to get my cirton gobie eating that while he wouldn't touch anything else. Now they all eat anything I give them. The lettuce was hard to get my tang to eat. After 4 months he is only now tearing into the lettuce but won't touch seaweed.

probably diseased, when fishes refuse to eat it's a sure fire sign of disease and it's not like YTs are picky eaters, mine even tried to eat a cardinal fish before realizing it was a fish!
