Randy Apple Snails.

I have 2 apple snails in my 10g. One is an ivory and the other blue. Well, last night I noticed they were being VERY loving to one another ;) . If they are successful in their lovemaking, how long until they lay eggs? :) And will the babies be the blue or ivory? Is one more dominant? The ivory snail has a yellow body and the blue has a black body. The blue one was stuck to the ivory so I am assuming the blue is the male. The ivory is growing at a much faster rate also.

when I had more than 1 apple snail it was very interesting watching their... activities. :rolleyes:
I would like to breed apple snails sometime, usually people think that they are bad, but if they are the focus of the tank, they can be extreemly interesting.

I dont mind if they make babies in that tank since the only other thing in there is a betta. I figure if i get overwhelmed I can always toss the babies into the 55g and the yoyos will probably take care of them for me. I wouldnt mind selling them to the local LFS since they hardly ever have white or blue snails. They are usually brown. I am really curious as to how the babies will look if I actually get to see some!

Your ivory may or may not be a female. The boys don't care :) If she is really a she you could see eggs tomorrow, next week or next month from what I've read. I've got a link about what possible colors you could get from various matings though. It takes a while to load, so be patient.

If the ivory is a guy, he was probably pretty ticked off since he had to carry the blue one around the tank for about 2 hours lol.

lol, i have seen my snails stacked up 6 hi and 3 off the side of the 4th one up, Its just to funny to watch. Especially since its one snail moving them around the tank...lol...must of been tired after that one

lol the snails were like that all night and part of the day today.. i think the blue one liked the ride lol..
