Okay. Bolivian Ram has been showing signs of ailment. No real physical signs, just lethargic, pale coloring, labored breating, clamped fins. At first I thought this was due to 1) Excel dosing, or 2) nitrate spikes in tank. Have since stopped the spikes (hopefully) by adding a canister filter to the tank. My LFS, who by the way I trust very much, very good and knowledgeable people work there and own the place, told me that occasional nitrate spikes, or Excel dosing would not cause this, but that Yellowbelly (my ram) is probably suffering from the same mystery bacterial disease that I lost half my tank to several weeks back. So they recommended that I treat with PraziPro. I want to put him back into the big tank and treat the entire tank. Currently he is being treated in a quarantine tank. But the problem is I cannot read the label of this medicine or find details about it on line. The guys at the shop told me that it will destroy plants and to remove them all, though I can read that part of the label and it says it is safe for plants. I know the dosage to use, but I guess I'm asking 1) should I remove the plants, 2) do I have to remove the carbon packet from the canister filter, 3) would it be safe to use with bottom feeders such as pl*cos, yoyo loaches, and adfs?
Thanks for any advice you can give,
Mary.
