Okay. Bolivian Ram has been showing signs of ailment. No real physical signs, just lethargic, pale coloring, labored breating, clamped fins. At first I thought this was due to 1) Excel dosing, or 2) nitrate spikes in tank. Have since stopped the spikes (hopefully) by adding a canister filter to the tank. My LFS, who by the way I trust very much, very good and knowledgeable people work there and own the place, told me that occasional nitrate spikes, or Excel dosing would not cause this, but that Yellowbelly (my ram) is probably suffering from the same mystery bacterial disease that I lost half my tank to several weeks back. So they recommended that I treat with PraziPro. I want to put him back into the big tank and treat the entire tank. Currently he is being treated in a quarantine tank. But the problem is I cannot read the label of this medicine or find details about it on line. The guys at the shop told me that it will destroy plants and to remove them all, though I can read that part of the label and it says it is safe for plants. I know the dosage to use, but I guess I'm asking 1) should I remove the plants, 2) do I have to remove the carbon packet from the canister filter, 3) would it be safe to use with bottom feeders such as pl*cos, yoyo loaches, and adfs?
Thanks for any advice you can give,
Mary.

Mary,
I have used it over the past two weeks at my new job (LFS) it is used for almost the exact symptoms you described. I haven't put it in planted tanks but I guess I would heed that advice. As for the ADFs, loaches and plecs.....I have been dosing every 3 days with those in the tanks and no losses. If you could read the details on the bottle hopefully it will explain more. I don't think I've ever read much execpt the "shake well" part and how much how often. I just listen to the boss saying do this this way. LOL.
I sure hope you can help your guys!

(remove carbon)

I have used it (2x dosage) with plants and they were fine, but I don't have anything too fragile.

edit.... haven't used it with the fish you mentioned, but was fine with corys.
Thank you kveeti! I found that site just a second ago. Sounds like it will be fine with a single dose and the plants. My ram has already recieved one dose in quarantine, seems no worse, a little better, at least his fins aren't clenched anymore and he's breathing okay. And I am figuring that at this point it can't hurt to give the entire tank a treatment. So, tomorrow I'll put him in again and treat. Part of the problem is that I put one of my bettas into the 29 gallon tank to use his 5 gallon tank for quarantine and poor Joey has gotten all of his fins nipped off, again... Darn those nippy tetras...
Take care,
Mary.

Good luck. Guess I should have mentioned the plants I had the double dose with were crypts (wendtii's) and java ferns and the floating plant salvinia natans.
