well, I've got a divided 5g tank setup for bettas with 2 males and a female. well sometime earlier today, one of the males managed to get into the other males section of the tank and they brualed it out. the one male is just missing some finnage but the other got beat up bad, but thankfully he was able to make it to the other side of the divider and I've still got the both of them. the one that got beat up is staying in the same spot in the corner of the tank but still breathing normally. He has many wounds on him, about 2 large ones and many smaller ones, but from what I can see, he has no significan't damage to the gills. is there anything that I can add to the water to lessen the chance that he's gonna catch some kind of disease through his wounds? is he gonna make it?

stress coat does wonders... thats what i hear atleast b/c ive never really used it except for adding fish to tanks.

Anybody know anything about aqua plus? it says on the bottle that to protect scales and fins to use a double dose, but thats most likely there to get the product to sell better so I wanna check on here first.

The injured betta seems to be be back to normal right now
(coming to see me when I come to the tank) and is moving more than a few milimeters so I think he might be ok(except for the wounds).

Add Melafix to the water. Your Bettas fins and scales will be back to normal pretty quick.

When my rainbow shark tore up my goldfish, I just fed them 2x a day and kept their water pristine. Within a week, you barely notice that they were injured. Now before I hear anything about compatibility and fish, read my Fish Day from Hell post. No need for extra chemicals unless you have an infection. Pristine water and more food (to provide the energy needed for healing and to boost morale) will do the trick.

OH WOW...that's so scary. Poor guy.

Yikes. I just set up a 10 gallon planted in my kitchen with a divider. I am going to rethink this before I stock it. I was planning on a pair of betta's.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention and I sure hope your fellow recovers well.
