View Full Version : Help!! Can't keep plants alive
I have a 55 gallon tank and I recently bought some Anubis and I planted them and after a week they started to die. Is there anything I should be putting into the water? Also when you b potted plants should you take them out of the stuff that they come in? :help:

What kind of lighting do you have? Once we cover that, we go on to the next phase.
Have you tested your water for gh, no3, and po4? If your lacking in something, this may have been the problem.

P.S. Yes should take the wool off the plant before planting.

I'm sure you meant anubias, Anubis is the Egyption partron of embalming and the keeper of poisons. The lighting for Anubias shouldn't be an issue at all. The only thing I can think of is you may have buried the rhizome which will cause the plant to die.

Anubias isn't very demanding and I have seen it shed leaves when introduced to a new tank.
Most aquatic plants will shed leaves and grow new ones when their lighting changes significantly.
As long as you didn't bury the rhizome and and algae doesn't cover the leaves, it'll should be ok.
BTW: I recently read that anubias grows better when only partially submerged. I think I will have a special anubias shelf that will allow them to be partially exposed to air in my next planted tank.
