Ok, Ill be moving back home from school in a few days, and i want to takle the white calcuim (?) deposits that line the top quater of my 29. I have tried an algae scrub pad, a mag float, and a razor that we use to get stickers paint and overspray off car windows at work. Nothing. Anything i can do here?

Theres a clean line that goes all the way across, this is the best pic of it i could get. Suggestions would be most appreciated. Thanks all.

There are a few aquarium lime/glass polisher spray bottle cleaners available that claim to be nontoxic. I've never used them myself but they should be safer than bathroom/sink cleaners. Either way the aquaruim has to be completely emptied and I would rinse and scrub it thoroughly afterwards. DrsFosterSmith.com and thatfishplace.com are the catalog companies I buy from. I have a 20gal white's treefrog tank that I'll have to do the same thing to one of these days.

Ditto to what fiske said. The tank will need to be emptied to use anything on it. You could try plain old vinegar and a toothbrush. Or Python Rydyt #1 for something more advanced that is designed specifically for aquariums.

Edited: Apparantly the Python Rydyt #1 is safe for fish and can be used in filled aquariums.

ahhh... you beat me to it. Vinegar... but only on an entirely emptied tank (duh). Good ol' acetic acid cleans hard water stains from the glass, is safe on plastics (inside hoods etc) and... when your car gets water spots from the sprinkler system, you can use it on the glass and paint without harmful effects. at less than a dollar a gallon, it's your cheapest bet!

yup vinegar or razor

Outstanding, I will probably try the Python Rydyt #1, i have no where to put the inhabitants for that kind of duration to empty the thing (i changed all the gravel with all the fish still in it, whew that was nuts) The razor ive tried but it sounds like vinegar will be a backup solution as well. thanks guys.
